Reusable candidate screening questionnaires
Digital Arrow lets recruiters create ordered screening questionnaires with required or optional text, single-choice, multiple-choice and timed video-answer questions. A questionnaire can be assigned to an existing applicant or shared externally, and reviewers can track pending or submitted status and open each completed response.
- Best for
- Recruiters who want candidates to answer the same pre-screening questions before the next hiring step.
- Replaces
- Copying screening prompts into separate emails and manually matching replies back to a role.
- Availability
- Questionnaire limits depend on the selected plan. Video-answer questions also require the Video Interviews add-on.

Verified capability inventory
What the feature includes
This inventory is based on the current product interface and data model, not a roadmap or category-level feature list.
| Capability | Current behavior |
|---|---|
| Text questions | Collect a written response in the candidate's own words. |
| Single-choice questions | Offer predefined options where one response is selected. |
| Multiple-choice questions | Allow the candidate to select more than one predefined option. |
| Video-answer questions | Collect a timed browser recording when the Video Interviews add-on is available. |
| Question ordering | Arrange the prompts in the sequence candidates should follow. |
| Required controls | Mark individual questions as required or optional. |
| Applicant and external assignments | Use the same questionnaire with an internal applicant or a shareable external path. |
| Response status and review | Track pending versus submitted assignments and open the completed answers. |
Choose the question format that fits the prompt
A questionnaire can combine four response formats in one ordered set.
Text questions work for explanations and context. Single-choice questions capture one selection from a predefined list, while multiple-choice questions allow several. A timed video answer adds a recorded response when that format is appropriate.
Recruiters can make a question required or optional and place it in the intended order. This creates a repeatable screening flow without implying that every response can or should be reduced to an automated score.
Assign to an applicant or share externally
The same questionnaire can be used with someone already in the workspace or with an external candidate link.
For an existing applicant, the company creates an assignment from the questionnaire. For an external candidate, the team can create a public assignment path that the recipient opens to register and answer.
This flexibility is useful when screening begins at different points. It does not mean that Digital Arrow automatically converts every external respondent into a single connected hire record.
Review complete answers without unsupported scoring claims
Assignments show pending or submitted status, and reviewers open submitted answers directly.
The results view surfaces the answers supplied for each question. The reviewer remains responsible for interpreting the response and deciding the next action.
The current implementation does not provide an interview scorecard, shared rubric, interviewer rating, side-by-side candidate scoring or automatic questionnaire score. The separate onboarding quiz feature does calculate completion scores, but that is not the candidate-screening workflow.
